"Men usually feel that women can handle less strenuous jobs such as those of a secretary or a nurse. The opinion they have of women is that that they are well suited for jobs which involve care, compassion and also less intellectual and physical exercise."

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Do you have any idea about what registered nurses do or about the competitive science education we receive? I suggest YOU educate yourself to not make statements about professions you don't understand.

If being a nurse was so easy, why is my starting salary right out of college $60K with bonuses as a staff nurse?
Have you ever heard of advanced practice nurses such as nurse practitioners and nurse anesthetists? My relative (a man, by the way) is a nurse anesthetist who brings home over $250K per year. And nurse practitioners make somewhere over $100K depending on their type of work. There are also the administrators and directors in hospitals (who are required to be nurses) who all make well over $150K depending on the department.

If nursing was such a non-intellectual field, why were there several lawyers, engineers, etc. in my graduating nursing class? As a matter of fact I was taught by a lawyer who is also a nurse. I myself also have a degree in classical music.

I suggest that in the future you don't write about what you don't know.
Be a professional.
I am.

Amitabh,

Very interesting article, as a woman I like to believe, anyone can be anything if they desired. But someone is in traditional job or not, as long as she is happy, that is all that matters.

I was in high tech industry and I thrived and enjoyed it while I was there, I am equally happy (or more) being home with my 2 little ones. and doing something from home. Learning should never stop, that is the key.
