Inkblot test for personality has been used since the 15th century. Though the origin of Inkblot is hard to track, it can only be linked to Rorschach’s writings. It is said to rouse the thoughts and imagination of a person. Inkblot test for personality aims to illustrate characteristic of a persons attitude and with that, it will show the persons pattern of performance, ideas and feelings. During the year 18th century, Dearborn publicized the results of the test he made with a group of sixteen partakers, wherein he applied the inkblot test for personality. He used twelve sets of ink blots with ten blots that are alike in nature.

Inkblot test was a hit especially in Europe during the latter part of the 19th and early 20th century. They did not consider it as a personality test but a fun game to play. It is associated with parlor games named “Blotto”, it is an intellectual game that the players are shown inkblot images and they have to connect it with other designs and pictures. This is a fun game that will test your mind as to how fast you think and how creative your mind is. The truth of the matter is that not all have the eye for describing things such as blots and other abstracts. Some people are just so imaginative that they can form anything in their mind by just looking at a picture or any form.

Though there are different kinds of personality tests, inkblot test for personality is the most popular and effective in assessing a person’s character. Inkblot test are scored by means of normative or ipsative method. However, the meaning and result of the test are hard to translate directly. Hence, the creator of the inkblot personality test constructs norms in order to supply a relative source for translating the results of the scores. Interpreting results of ink blot test is difficult and may take time decoding it, but everything can be learned. With proper knowledge and education, one will know the way in unraveling the results of the tests.

Ink blot test for personality is a fun way to know the behavioral pattern of a person. It is relatively easy to make your own inkblot test; all you need is a clean white paper and an ink. Pour the ink in the middle of the paper and fold it crosswise or lengthwise and then open it to see what you have made. Although you are not a professional to really interpret the answers, you and your friends can still have fun with it.

There is certainly a lot of different ways to check the results of the ink blot personality test. How ever or what ever you opt to use for checking, what’s important is to get the exact result which is reliable and valid. Just keep in mind that only professionals can interpret the results of the inkblot. Interpreting it for fun is ok but it should not affect other people’s personality and feelings.

In modern day and age, one has to practice diplomacy as it is essential to get one’s way in a world that is highly competitive. What you say matters a lot. One has to be careful while conveying issues as they would have an impact on one’s surroundings. Building up of personal relationships depends upon your choice of words, how you convey them to the concerned person.

Why be diplomatic?
It is essential to be diplomatic as what we convey does influence others actions. Much has to be accomplished in our daily lives, and we need to interact with others in order to achieve it. We may have to convince others and also get our way.

In the arena of international politics, much is conveyed diplomatically. Countries have to foster relations between each other and naturally they have to be very careful in their public dealings. Diplomacy plays an important role in striking deals. Senior leaders of various countries do not convey much in their talks. They have to be careful in what they say. They do not reveal or convey everything. They play with words. In fact, they do a lot of “sweet talk”.

Advantages of being diplomatic

It pays off to be diplomatic.

One is able to win over people.

Keep enemies at bay.

Settle disputes amicably.

Also it makes you more closer to people as you are less likely to offend them

Disadvantages of being diplomatic

You may not come across as a genuine person.

People may not believe in what you say.

Others may behave cautiously towards you.

One may not appear as a warm person.

How to cultivate diplomacy?
Of ten the art of diplomacy is innate in one’s personality. From childhood itself they learn to be diplomatic, as their parent speak in that manner. For those who are unable to be diplomatic, they can learn from speech making courses which teach them about how to convey things.

Many institutions conduct courses in speech making. They teach students how to convey effectively in few words. Even in universities students take up courses in speech making and in conversation techniques. Many would like to learn how to make conversation in public dealings. Many people who socialize a lot do attend such courses in order to be more popular on the social circuit front.

Diplomacy is essential in our personal as well as official dealing with others. One can get messages across more effectively.

One must dress appropriately in order to impress upon the other person. Clothes reflect one’s personality. They can tell what kind of a person one is. Naturally, one must wear clothes that suit them. Clothes have to be worn according to occasions. One has to dress appropriately.

A well dressed person is much appreciated in society. Many well known personalities, particularly politicians and actors are admired for their dress sense. The rich spend a lot of money on buying the best clothes in town. Many go in for designer clothes, which are very expensive.

Why choice of dress is important?
No doubt, one likes to wear clothes of one’s choice, but at times one has to wear according to the demands of a given situation. Those who are working are required to wear certain types of attire. For example, nurses wear uniforms, and so do policemen and women. They cannot wear what they like while on official work. Of course, when off duty they can dress as they please.

In offices, one has to dress well. A pleasing personality is essential and clothes also enhance ones’ appearance. One has to look neat and tidy. Good grooming is essential. Even on the political scene, senior political personalities must have a dress sense. Their clothes must be formal during official engagements. When they are in a relaxed mood that is on a holiday they can dress up casually.

Individual countries have their own national dress. The Africans wear their traditional dress on special occasions. In India, women in high position wear saris. In Pakistan as well as women in politics wear either salwar kameez or saris. Men, of course, wear pants, which is of course a western attire.

How to cultivate dress sense?
Grooming institutes are there which can guide a person as to how they must dress. Many people watch their favorite actor and dress accordingly. Films help one develop dress sense. Fashion magazines also give out much information on how to dress. Fashion shows also highlight various ensembles. One can learn about color choices from these shows.

One must spend some time and purchase clothes that enhance their personality. Sometimes you may have to spend more to have a good wardrobe as your public appearances may demand so. Casual wear also has to suit your personality.

Clothes make a lot of difference as to how you look. Even an ordinary looking person can come across attractive if his or her choice of clothes is appropriate. On the other hand, a good looking person may not look all that good in case his or her choice of clothes is not up to the mark. One must wear clothes that make him or her look good.

Setting up goals is very essential to win. Without goals one is working towards an aimless achievement. When goals are set one works very hard to achieve them. If there are no goals, then the purpose to win is defeated. No doubt, you may win an award or gain recognition, but the goal to win needs to be there to attain that.

How goals help one to win?

One gets motivated.

One is clear of what lies ahead.

There is a purpose and meaning behind what one is doing.

One works hard to achieve them.

Is goal setting difficult?
Generally not, as one knows what one wants to achieve; but at times it is difficult as the end may be difficult to attain. One may come across many hurdles and bottlenecks. Also one has to be clear about what one wants. Any ambiguity means, one is not sure of one’s goals. Also being a competitive world, one has to set up realistic goals which one can achieve.

Is it easy to attain goals?
Certainly not. One has to persevere very hard. One must be determined to reach the set goals. Any laxity may result in failure to attain those goals. Many business establishments start out with set goals but fail to reach them and suffer from losses. Those which work devotedly and are able to invest well to attain those goals reap dividends.

Does it help to have goal oriented outlook?
One is more clear cut in what one wants if goals are set. One can strategize well and also plan out financial and other administrative costs. Staff can be motivated to work towards a particular goal. They also feel responsible in what they are doing and identify themselves with the organization.

Not only business establishments work on the basis of goals, even other professionals prefer goals to be set up. An athlete would like to win certain number of feats. An actor would like to perform in certain number of well appreciated films to feel that he or she has made a remarkable mark in his or her respective field. An author would like to publish certain number of books.

Goals are thus very essential for a person to achieve anything. It is meaningless otherwise to work or contribute. A sense of achievement has to be felt and that is possible if goals are reached.

In today’s modern world, much interaction take place at both personal and professional level. One has to deal with all kinds of people of different temperaments. A person who can get along well with others is successful in life. For this one has to be polite.

What is Politeness?
Maintaining proper etiquette and speaking properly to a person without offending him or her is politeness. One must not be rude or offensive. One must use proper words to convey something. Foul language can put off a person. Also one has to be choosy about words while conveying something. Whatever has to be conveyed has to be conveyed in a subtle manner.

Why be Polite?
Team work maybe required at times. A manager has to deal with his or her staff. All these communication forms require a person to be polite. Rudeness can make business deals difficult to settle, or even at personal level one may face rough weather if one offends the other person.

World over much business, trade transactions and diplomatic ties are carried out. Such dealings require a person to be polite and courteous to get the work done. If one is polite one can build up friendly ties.

Consequences of Politeness

People are friendlier towards you.

Business transactions can be settled more easily.

One develops an attractive personality.

One is more likable.

Less chances of developing enemies.

Politeness indeed pays off in many ways. Others are impressed by the manner you conduct yourself. They reach out to you. You can communicate better. Differences can be settled easily. There are several institutes which train a person in how to be polite.

Persuading a person to do a particular thing or action is called persuasiveness. It is an art by itself. It is not easy to make someone do a particular thing, unless and until he or she wants to do it himself or herself. Most people do not like to be told what they should do or not do. They prefer to make their own decisions.

Certain professions like salesman or woman require persuasive skills they need to encourage the customer to take interest in their products and to buy them. In fact, even children often have to be persuaded by their parents to do a particular thing. The parents tend to cajole them

One has to cultivate the skill of persuasiveness. How does one do it?

How to be persuasive? – Cultivating the Art of Persuasiveness

One must be patient. One must not give up.

One must set goals to attain. Targets must be set up.

The target audience must be understood well. One must know what appeals to the person who is being persuaded.

Crude behavior must be avoided. One must be polite and courteous even while convincing a person. Rudeness can aggravate the other person and he may not do it.

One must be tactful. What you say matters. One must not utter something that would offend the other party.

Be confident. The person who is persuading must be sure of himself or herself. For example, in case a salesperson is selling a product he or she has to be very familiar with the product.

One must not over do things. Appearing over-confident can also put off the other person.

Style of speaking also matters. A person who can play with words and is good at the language being spoken can easily convince the other person.

A pleasing demeanor helps. One must smile while trying to convince the other person or at least be pleasant. An overbearing attitude may not fetch the required results.

Public relations techniques work, perhaps taking a person out for a cup of tea or dinner, making his or her presence very valuable.

Being persuasive requires patience and the desire to reach one’s set targets. One has to be confident and be pleasant while trying to convince another person about a particular thing.
